What moves Ethena (ENA)

As of October 11, 2026. This page describes drivers that already have a public record, and dates that are already on a calendar. It is not investment advice. It does not say to buy, sell, or hold, and it does not forecast a price.

What typically drives the price

USDe, and the funding on the hedges behind it. ENA is the governance token of Ethena. The protocol's synthetic dollar, USDe, is backed by a hedged position. When USDe's supply changes, or when perpetual-funding conditions change, the public story around ENA changes with it. This page does not quote a yield. A posted rate is a snapshot, and it is not an alert.

The investor unlock that already happened. On August 27, 2026 the Ethena Foundation said the remaining original investor unlocks would complete on October 5, 2026. That pulled forward a schedule that had run toward March 2028. Team tokens stayed on their old schedule. Reports of that statement say the foundation bought some locked investor positions before the date and did not publish the size of those purchases.

October 5, 2026 is already past. Trackers do not agree on the token count. Tokenomist's reading of the old schedule puts the accelerated remainder near 1.41 billion ENA. Other trackers show a much smaller figure for the ordinary monthly tranche, near 172 million ENA. The foundation did not publish one count in the reports checked. This page does not pick one. Tokens becoming transferable is not the same as a sale.

Reports of an SEC filing also describe a treasury company's contractual lock-up lifting on the same day. This page did not re-read the filing, so it does not repeat a holding size. A waiver is not a sale.

What is still scheduled. Team and other buckets can still release on their own clocks. The sources checked on October 11, 2026 did not list a later original-investor cliff from the schedule that was pulled forward. This page does not invent the next date.

How much it usually moves

From October 12, 2025 through October 11, 2026, CoinGecko's daily USD series for ethena produced 364 close-to-close changes. The method is in README.md.

The median absolute move was 3.2%. The 90th percentile day was 9.2%. The price moved at least 5% on 119 days, at least 3% on 188 days, and at least 10% on 30 days. The largest close-to-close change in the window was 25.2%.

About 1 day in 3 cleared 5%. A fixed "5% up or down" rule fires on an ordinary day for ENA. The October 5 unlock is already in the past, and the coin's range did not need that date to clear 5%. An unusual-move alert uses Ethena's own recent range.

A 5% move inside one hour is a different event from a 5% close-to-close day. This count does not measure the hourly case.

Example alerts

These are examples of wording. They are not recommendations, and they are not live prices. Terminal can run an unusual move, a percent move, a price level, or a volume spike. The note on an alert describes the move. It does not tell you what to do.

  1. Tell me when Ethena (ENA) moves more than usual within an hour.
  2. Tell me when ENA moves more than usual within 24 hours.
  3. Tell me when ENA's volume is at least 3 times its 20-day average.

An unusual-move alert waits 4 hours before it can fire again, unless you change that. A volume alert waits 1 hour by default.
