What moves Uniswap (UNI)

As of October 11, 2026. This page describes drivers that already have a public record, and dates that are already on a calendar. It is not investment advice. It does not say to buy, sell, or hold, and it does not forecast a price.

What typically drives the price

Governance, and the fee switch that already ran. UNI is the governance token of the Uniswap protocol. The cap is 1 billion UNI. CoinGecko's markets pull at 14:20 UTC on October 11, 2026 reported circulating supply of about 625 million.

The long-running argument was whether a slice of trading fees would go to the protocol. The Block reported on December 18, 2025 that a final vote on the "UNIfication" proposal was open from December 19 through December 25, 2025. The proposal included protocol fees and a burn of 100 million UNI from the treasury, after a two-day timelock. Coverage on October 4, 2026, citing The Block and Cointelegraph, says that vote passed and the 100 million UNI burn was executed. That event is already past. This page did not find an open vote with a published deadline on October 11, 2026.

A later governance vote can still move UNI, because the vote is public and the on-chain tally is public. The date lives in the governance tool. It is not sitting on this page until a proposal sets one.

Trading volume on the protocol. Fee revenue, a new Uniswap version, and activity on Unichain (Uniswap's own rollup) change how much attention the token gets. Those are usage headlines. They are not a clock.

Leverage. UNI perpetual markets can force liquidations that extend a move. Funding and open interest are not alert types until that feed is connected.

How much it usually moves

From October 12, 2025 through October 11, 2026, CoinGecko's daily USD series for uniswap produced 364 close-to-close changes. The method is in README.md.

The median absolute move was 2.4%. The 90th percentile day was 8.1%. The price moved at least 5% on 83 days, at least 3% on 151 days, and at least 10% on 21 days. The largest close-to-close change in the window was 43.2%.

About 1 day in 4 cleared 5%. A fixed "5% up or down" rule fires on a week that was ordinary for UNI in this window. A governance day can be one of those days, or it can be wider. An unusual-move alert uses Uniswap's own recent range, so the comparison is with recent UNI days, not with a single percent.

A 5% move inside one hour is a different event from a 5% close-to-close day. This count does not measure the hourly case.

Example alerts

These are examples of wording. They are not recommendations, and they are not live prices. Terminal can run an unusual move, a percent move, a price level, or a volume spike. The note on an alert describes the move. It does not tell you what to do.

  1. Tell me when Uniswap (UNI) moves more than usual within an hour.
  2. Tell me when UNI moves more than usual within 24 hours.
  3. Tell me when UNI's volume is at least 3 times its 20-day average.

Around a governance deadline, leave the 24-hour rule on. The vote does not send the alert. The move does. An unusual-move alert waits 4 hours before it can fire again, unless you change that. A volume alert waits 1 hour by default.
