Terminal vs exchange app alerts
This page compares price alerts in the Coinbase, Kraken, and Robinhood apps with Terminal. Competitor facts were checked on October 11, 2026. The Terminal column was checked against the product on October 12, 2026. A cell marked Coming waits for a later release.
These are the US help articles opened for this page. A broker's app can place an order. Terminal does not. An alert in a broker app is still a notification. The Coinbase article says the alert does not place an order. The Robinhood article says a notification is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold.
Information only. Not investment advice, and not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold. Past alerts record what the price did. They do not predict what it will do.
Who it fits
Coinbase fits a person who already keeps a watchlist in the Coinbase app and wants a push, an in-app notice, or an email when an asset reaches a price they typed. The alert is tied to that watchlist.
Kraken Pro fits a person who wants a price level on a Kraken market, on the web, on Kraken Desktop, and in the Pro app, with the same alerts synced. A second control, volatility alerts, covers markets they have favorited and includes the 24-hour percent and the current price. Kraken+ does not apply to Kraken Pro, and its benefit list does not include these alerts.
Robinhood fits a person who wants a simple percent ladder on holdings or a watchlist, or a price typed on a chart. Price alerts are described without a Gold fee. Digests, which summarize what moved, are a Robinhood Gold feature. Gold is a brokerage subscription, not an alert-only plan.
The Terminal launch offer fits someone who wants the same kind of condition off the exchange app: a sentence or a form, a short note, a later price on the record, and delivery on Telegram, a phone alert, or email. It does not replace the exchange, and it does not log in to an exchange in order to trade.
Feature table
- Conditions. Coinbase: Above or below a price you type, on an asset you starred onto a watchlist. A separate Price Alerts screen has an Alert Frequency dropdown. The choices in that dropdown were not published. An older help URL still describes alerts for large swings, without a custom target. Use the current help.coinbase.com article for the custom price.. Kraken Pro: A price you type, or percent-adjustment buttons from the current price, above or below. You can start from the Alerts widget or by right-clicking the chart. Futures alerts are created on the web, not in the app. Volatility alerts fire for favorited markets and include the 24-hour percent and the current price. The size of the percent buttons was not published.. Robinhood: Holdings or watchlist: 5% or 10% moves. At 5%, you also get 10% moves. At 10%, you get the 10% move. Crypto uses the same 5% or 10% choice, plus up to 5 timeframes, and a frequency of Less or More. Key price levels can be toggled for crypto. Custom alerts: price moves above, price moves below, or both, typed on the chart. Stocks and ETFs can also use indicator alerts. 52-week high and low can be turned on.. Terminal launch offer: Price above, price below, percent move, volume spike, and unusual move. A sentence is restated as a rule before you save. Unusual move shows the percent for that coin today. Coming: funding rate and open interest, after that feed is on.
- Delivery. Coinbase: Push, in-app, and email. Each has its own switch. Text messages were not found for these alerts.. Kraken Pro: Mobile: push. The price-alert switch is on by default, and nothing fires until you create an alert. Web: a browser pop-up and a sound, if the operating system and the browser both allow notifications. Email for these alerts was not found. Text messages on the email FAQ are for status notices, not for these price alerts.. Robinhood: Preset and custom price alerts are push. Email is documented for stock price movements on holdings, when a price "moves significantly." Custom alerts are push. Robinhood says it cannot always deliver a push. Digests are in the app.. Terminal launch offer: Telegram, a phone alert (a browser notification), and email. Telegram and phone alerts are aimed to leave sooner than email. That timing is a target. Coming: Discord. Coming on Pro: signed webhooks, and a post to your own channel.
- Explanations. Coinbase: The help article says the notice means the asset reached a price. A generated explanation was not in the article. The article says the alert is informational and is not advice to buy or sell.. Kraken Pro: The level alert's sample wording was not published. Volatility alerts include the 24-hour percent and the current price.. Robinhood: The price alert is the threshold you set. Digests, for Gold members, are plain-language summaries. Sections named on the digest page include Market backdrop, Return drivers, Top movers, upcoming events, and a section the page calls Actionable context. The same page says a digest is not a research report and is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold. Portfolio Digests were in a rolling release on the checked date.. Terminal launch offer: A why-note of about two lines from stored facts: price path, volume against a 20-day baseline, and the broader market move. Code fills the numbers. Free includes 10 notes a month. Trader and Pro include a note on each alert unless notes are paused. There is no news feed in the note at launch. The note does not tell you to buy, sell, or hold.
- Outcome record. Coinbase: The documented control is delete: Notification Settings, the asset, then Delete. A log of fires, and the price afterward, were not in the article.. Kraken Pro: Active and Historical lists on web and mobile. Desktop has an Alerts Log, and you can re-add a triggered alert from it. Whether that history shows the price 1 hour or 1 day later was not in the article.. Robinhood: Robinhood Legend has an Activity tab, "a history of all your recently triggered alerts," next to Manage. Whether Activity shows a later price was not in the article. Digests refresh in place. They are not described as an alert audit.. Terminal launch offer: The price at the fire, then 1 hour, 4 hours, 24 hours, and 7 days later. Free keeps that history 7 days. Trader and Pro keep it 1 year. The receipt is a price record, not a rating. Coming: the rule's fire count and the median change after 24 hours. Coming: a public Scoreboard of the aggregate, with no account names.
- Noise controls. Coinbase: The watchlist is the boundary. Only starred assets send a price alert. Alert Frequency exists, and its choices were not published. A cooldown number, quiet hours, and snooze were not in the article.. Kraken Pro: Level alerts are opt-in, one by one. Volatility alerts follow favorites. Unfavorite a market to stop that volatility alert. Quiet hours, snooze, a cooldown, an expiry, and a cap were not in the article.. Robinhood: The 5% and 10% ladder. One 52-week high and one 52-week low per name per week. Holdings alerts start once notifications are on. Watchlist alerts are off until you enable them. If you both own and watch a name, the holdings settings apply. Less and More, and the five crypto timeframes, were not defined. Quiet hours were not in the article.. Terminal launch offer: Daily limit default 8 (you can set 1 to 30). Cooldown default 1 hour, or 4 hours on unusual move. Quiet hours off by default, preset 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Morning brief at 8:00 AM. Digests on Trader and Pro, off until you turn them on. Snooze 1 hour and Mute. Fires during a quiet window are still written to Today. A 30-day preview marks would-have-fired times before you save. Adding a coin does not turn on an alert.
- Price. Coinbase: The price-alert article does not say the alert needs Coinbase One. The Coinbase One page this check loaded was in euros and does not list alerts. See the price notes.. Kraken Pro: The market-alerts article does not list a fee. Kraken+ is 4.99 a month or 49.99 a year in USD, GBP, CAD, AUD, EUR, and CHF. Kraken+ does not apply to Kraken Pro. Price alerts are not in the Kraken+ benefit list.. Robinhood: The price-alert article does not mention Gold. Digests and Cortex require Gold. The digest article says a $5 monthly subscription. The Gold overview says $5 a month or $50 a year, with a 30-day trial. The Gold perk list does not name digests or price alerts.. Terminal launch offer: Free $0, 3 alerts, 10 coins, checks about every 5 minutes, no card. Trader $15 a month or $144 a year, 50 alerts, 100 coins, checks about every minute, 14-day trial. Pro $29 a month or $288 a year, 200 alerts, checks about every minute at launch. Coming on Pro: about every 15 seconds, backtests, signed webhooks, channel posts. Paid checkout stays off until the seller name and address are on the pricing page.
Price notes
Coinbase One, on the page this check loaded: Basic €4.99 a month or €49.99 a year, Preferred €19.99 a month or €179.99 a year, Premium €199.99 a month or €1,999.99 a year. Benefits named there are trading-fee limits, account protection, staking boosts, and other membership items. Alerts are not in that list. The page says Coinbase One is available in the United States, and this load displayed euros. A US dollar price was not on the page. See Unverified.
Canada has a separate regulatory loss notice, at most once every 30 days, for a personal holdings loss. That notice is not the US price alert. The Canada article says price alerts cover watchlist assets whether or not you own them.
Kraken+ new subscribers on the Kraken app and web can get a one-month trial. The FAQ, updated September 17, 2026, says the subscription does not extend to Kraken Pro, Kraken Desktop, or Kraken Wallet.
Robinhood Gold's overview, opened the same day, lists cash interest, deposits, margin, an IRA match, and other perks. It does not list Cortex, Digests, or price alerts. The Digests article still says Digests are for Gold members and points at that overview for the $5 monthly subscription. Whether the $50 annual plan includes Digests was not stated on the Digests page. There is no separate Digest price.
Where the exchange apps go further
- The alert is in the app where the person already holds or watches the coin. Terminal does not show a balance and does not place an order.
- Coinbase lets you turn push, in-app, and email on separately, and the help text says the alert does not place an order and is not advice to buy or sell.
- Kraken Pro syncs alerts across web, desktop, and the Pro app. You can drag a level on the chart. Active and Historical lists are in the product, and Desktop can re-add a triggered alert. Volatility alerts name the 24-hour percent and the last price in the notice.
- Robinhood's 5% choice includes 10% moves, and the 10% choice hides the smaller one. A 52-week high or low is capped at one high and one low per name per week. Holdings alerts can start when notifications are on, and watchlist alerts stay off until you enable them.
- Robinhood Legend keeps a trigger history next to the list of alerts you manage, and custom alerts sync between Legend and mobile advanced charts.
- Robinhood Digests, for Gold members, summarize a portfolio or an asset in plain language, with a disclosure that they are not a recommendation. Terminal's launch note is about the alert you set. It is not a portfolio digest, and it does not include a trade button.
- None of the three price-alert articles opened here require a second subscription for the basic price alert.
Where the Terminal launch offer is different
- The condition can be a sentence, then a visible rule. An unusual-move alert shows the percent, instead of a frequency dropdown or a Less/More switch whose steps are unpublished.
- The why-note is two lines, with numbers filled from stored market data. It is not a broker research summary, and it does not tell you what to do with the coin.
- The receipt stores the price 1 hour, 4 hours, 24 hours, and 7 days later. The exchange articles opened here document delete, an active/historical list, or a Legend activity tab. They do not document those later prices.
- Before you save, the last 30 days show when the rule would have fired.
- Quiet hours, a daily cap, a cooldown, snooze, and mute are part of the launch offer. Those controls were not in the Coinbase, Kraken, or Robinhood alert articles opened for this page.
- Delivery starts with Telegram. The exchange articles describe their own push, and Coinbase also describes email. They do not describe Telegram for these alerts.
- You can set an alert without funding an exchange account at Terminal. The exchange articles do not all say that in one line. Coinbase requires the asset on a watchlist. Robinhood can alert a watchlist, and those alerts are off by default. Kraken Pro asks you to create the alert. None of the three articles says a deposit is required for a price alert. An explicit "before you fund" line was not found, so this page does not claim one.
Checks run about every 5 minutes on Free and about every minute on Trader and, at launch, on Pro. That is a target for the check. Robinhood's price-alert article says it cannot always deliver a push. Terminal states the same kind of limit: the check interval is a target.
