Loopcard viability verdict
Chair: adversarial viability
Date: 18 September 2026
Classification: Internal. Not a customer brochure.
Job of this file: try to kill Loopcard after reading the pack, then pick one word.
Corpus read: docs/00–11, decision/GO-NO-GO.md, decision/MARKET-STUDY.md, challenges/*.md, loopcard/docs/PRODUCT.md. Live pricing page and architecture checked. External pages opened 18 Sep 2026 for the “prettier ccusage” question.
Prior binding demand verdict this pack already wrote: Slip / Hallpass / MCP blast card / signed receipts / quantum = NO-GO. Loopcard was invented the same day as a social-media boom so the operator would have something to ship. That is the Slip process with a PNG instead of a permit. This chair does not inherit that GO.
Direct answer first
A prettier ccusage is not a company.
- ccusage (
ccusage.com, GitHubccusage/ccusage, originallyryoppippi/ccusage) is an MIT CLI, ~18.6k stars, updated 17 Sep 2026. It reads local JSONL from Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Amp, Droid, Copilot CLI, Gemini CLI, Grok Build CLI, and a dozen more.npx ccusage@latest. No account, no API key, no SaaS. It is sponsored by Lineman.io, which is a company. - The companies next to that CLI sell FinOps / attribution / token-saving, not a mugshot:
- Lineman.io — “Your AI bill shows a total. Not what it bought.” Team Cost Explorer, repo/dev/ticket attribution, compressor. $14.99 / $49.99 / Enterprise. First month free. Sponsors ccusage.
- SuperPenguin (YC) — “Know where your AI spend goes.” SDK + Mac app for Cursor / Claude Code / Codex. Free to $2k managed spend, Growth $30, Pro $200. Not a proxy.
- The prettier card job is already OSS, as of this date:
- claude-usage-graph — “ccusage and
/usagetell you the numbers. This turns those numbers into something you'd actually show.” Browser playground +npx … --png. Aggregate counts only. MIT. - ClaudeCodeUsage (VS Code) v2.2 — “Usage share card”: themed one-page SVG, range × scope × metrics, GitHub avatar optional. Local, deterministic.
- cc-grass — GitHub-style orange grass SVG for the profile README (
npx cc-grass). Published 9 Sep 2026. - cctally — local dashboard; exports shareable Markdown, HTML, or SVG, project names anonymized. Apache-2.0. ccusage-drop-in.
- ccusage-heat30, ccflare (shareable URLs), Clusage (VS Code “beautiful dashboard”).
- The social flex job is already a board: viberank.app — 1.2k developers, $14.2M tracked, MIT,
npx viberank-cli. People already screenshot a rank, not a Virtus-pink PNG from a crypto domain.
Loopcard’s own spec (docs/11-loopcard-product.md §6) admits the win condition is “beauty and share, not accounting depth,” and that Pro is upside while Virtus awareness is the floor. That sentence is a confession that this is not a SaaS. It is a poster. The demand file already named the poster: “A public /c/ card is a tweet, not a company. SSL Labs taught this lesson a decade ago.” (decision/MARKET-STUDY.md §5, Blast Card). Loopcard is Blast Card with a dollar instead of delete_repo.
Final word: KILL.
Steelman FOR shipping Loopcard
Argue this in court and you could almost believe it.
-
The pain is not fake. A developer left Claude Code running overnight and woke up around $6,000 (MakeUseOf 22 May 2026; CloudZero 18 May 2026). A Cursor month on HN was $1,263; the founder shipped OSS, which proves the invoice, not a $19 sub. Uber burned its 2026 AI budget in four months on Claude Code (reported via The Information / CloudZero). Anthropic’s own enterprise note: ~$13 / developer / active day, $150–$250 / month, 90% under $30/active day — and the tail is what goes viral. People already screenshot Anthropic totals. A designed card is a better screenshot.
-
60-second aha is real and legal. Demo card, no account, CSV stays in the browser, no API keys, no vendor scrape (CFAA line from
challenges/legal.mdand Ninth Circuit Amazon v. Perplexity, 26-1444). Security chair’s honeypot tests do not fire. Ops is one Node on127.0.0.1:3100plus Postgres aggregates (loopcard/docs/ARCHITECTURE.md). This is the only SKU in the pivot that is clean on legal + security and already live. -
Growth unit matches how this crowd actually posts. Coding-agent Twitter is bill-shock and flex. Viberank exists because people want to publish a number. Loopcard’s “Download card / Copy share text” is the same instinct with a pink mugshot. Product Hunt is gated on organic screenshots (
docs/marketing/calendar-30-days.mdDay 22). Free at launch is honest (loopcard/public/pricing.html). -
Sunk cost is already paid. Preview is on https://cryptobook.space. Incremental VPS cost is $0 (
docs/04-financial-plan.md). Killing it now does not refund the build. A 14-day boom is cheaper than another Slip rewrite. -
The operator asked for a social boom and allowed a new domain.
docs/10-strategic-options.mdrecords that choice. CryptoBook as H1 is already gone. If the floor is Virtus awareness, even a failed SaaS can be a brand ad. -
Wedge vs incumbents, generously stated. Anthropic/Cursor show totals. SuperPenguin/Lineman want a Mac app, GitHub, or a team. ccusage is a terminal table. Loopcard is the only thing that tries to be a forwardable PNG in 60 seconds in a browser without installing
npx. Non-terminal users (a founder forwarding a screenshot to finance) are the imagined buyer.
That is the best case. It is not enough.
Steelman AGAINST

This is Slip’s blast card with a new noun. Adoption invented Blast Card so something would pass 60 seconds. Demand killed it: Toolproof, CodeFlowOps, PolicyLayer, Armor1, ShieldMCP ($49 PDF, 5 PH upvotes, 0 reviews). Competition said a card without a gateway is a brochure. Finance said one-shot tools do not convert. Loopcard changes the scare from “this MCP can
rm” to “this loop cost $6,000.” The conversion mechanic is identical: free watermarked object, paid unwatermarked object + history. ShieldMCP already ran that experiment. The market returned zero reviews. -
The $19 SKU has no weekly ritual. Paid Loopcard is “unwatermarked PNG, public share URL, 90-day history” (
docs/11-loopcard-product.md§3). Nobody pays $19/mo to unwatermark a poster they already downloaded. HaveIBeenPwned is a tweet; Troy Hunt bills enterprises. Loopcard forbids the enterprise motion. Empty 90-day history (there is no live PEP, no recurring ingest unless they keep dropping CSVs) → cancel in month one. Finance’s own rule: set-and-forget card = 6–10%/mo churn. -
Incumbent for “stop the runaway” is the vendor they already pay. OpenAI hard spend limits 429. Claude caps / Max plans. Cursor spend limits and admin dashboard. The $1,263 founder built OSS, HN 6 points (
decision/MARKET-STUDY.md§3). LangChain Jun 2026: cost dropped as a production barrier; quality is #1; 89% already have observability. Personal bill shock is real; it is absorbed by/usage, ccusage, and the subscription ceiling (Max 20x $200 is the fuse). A pink card does not cap anything. Loopcard’s own claims table forbids “we stop the runaway” (docs/marketing/claims-we-will-not-make.md). So the product cannot even advertise the pain it leads with. -
“Prettier ccusage” is an occupied genre, not a hole. See the opening.
claude-usage-graphis the same sentence Loopcard uses, already shipped, with a live browser playground. ClaudeCodeUsage already ships a usage share card. cctally already exports shareable SVG. cc-grass is a profile README object. Viberank already is the public flex (1.2k people, $14.2M). Loopcard arriving fromcryptobook.spaceis a fourth card site with zero stars and the wrong brand. The 30-day calendar even scripts the objection: “Do not argue with ‘just use ccusage.’ Agree: ccusage is the terminal; Loopcard is the screenshot.” That is not positioning. That is admitting the user already has the job done. -
Distribution is a tax, not a channel. nginx, seven days to 18 Sep 2026: ~1,503 hits, ~65 unique IPs, paths
/and/api/posts/…— leftover CryptoBook social (docs/02-market-study.md§3). Those people want the old feed. They are not Cursor buyers. Finance applied a 30–50% conversion haircut for the CryptoBook name; demand applied a distribution zero. Buyingloopcard.aidoes not create an audience. Virtus Labs / TokensMarketCap is a crypto graph. Posting a $6,000 Claude overnight card from a blockchain agency into r/ClaudeAI is self-promo with a scam-adjacent domain history (.comhad an expired cert;.spaceis the leftover social). PLG for this buyer isnpx. Loopcard’s homepage is not. -
The $480 / $1,650 “30-team audit” in
docs/11is uncited. Anthropic’s published center of gravity is $150–$250 / developer / month. Requesty (Jun 2026): Claude Code active mean $108, median $23, P95 $291. Viral $1k–$6k bills are the long tail, usually uncapped API loops, not Max seats. Using the tail as the median is how a stunt becomes a lie. The demo card is a labeled re-creation of published reporting — fine as journalism, fatal as “this is your weekly object.” -
Founder hours are the real COGS. Parser hell is named in the BurnNotice kill (
challenges/competition.md): Claude JSONL, Cursor, Codex, Anthropic CSV, ccusage JSON — every harness is a break. Reddit/HN/PH moderation. A 30-day calendar. Domain hunt. That is the month academy.tokensmarketcap.com stays 404 on a property that actually has users (challenges/slip-demand.md§Job that WOULD have demand;docs/10-strategic-options.mdoption C). Support on a “pretty receipt” is low; opportunity cost is not. -
12-month cash is a story about Stripe that the pricing page refuses to turn on.
/pricingsays not billed. The $5k MRR bar needs 263 paying at $19 or 102 at $49 (docs/04-financial-plan.md). Freemium with a strong free default converts 2–3.5%, not 4.5%. One-shot viral tools convert like ShieldMCP and AI Toolbox 3.0 (410 PH upvotes → 23 people reached pricing). Even a heroic boom does not produce 100 paying accounts from a leftover social domain in 12 months. Base case MRR: $0. Stretch still sits on unproven WTP — the exact hopium finance forbade for Slip. -
Brand damage is asymmetric. A failed permit API is invisible. A pink $6,000 overnight card on a domain Google still associates with crypto social, posted by Virtus Blockchain Labs, is how you look like a fake AI startup.
docs/05-marketing-plan.mdwrote that risk before Loopcard existed: “Avoid looking like a crypto-social ghost or a fake AI startup.” Loopcard is that ghost wearing a new H1. -
The process tell. PM-NOTE: inventing a SKU that survives legal/security after other ideas die is not a market study. Loopcard is the leftover of a leftover: Blast Card → “but dollars, and social.” Operator override does not create a buyer. GO/NO-GO still says: no idea has enough demand evidence to build on this VPS in Sep 2026. Loopcard did not bring invoices, a named incumbent they will beat this quarter, or a reason SuperPenguin/Lineman/ccusage/viberank will not ship a prettier export (several already did).
Scorecard
Scale: 1 = kill-level fail, 5 = mixed, 10 = this is the company. Bar for SHIP: no dimension at 1–2 that the product depends on, and demand + WTP + distribution all ≥ 6. Loopcard depends on all three of those. They are all ≤ 4.
| Dimension | Score | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Demand | 4 | Hair-on-fire invoices exist ($6k overnight; $1,263 Cursor; Uber). The job people run this week is /usage, npx ccusage, vendor caps, SuperPenguin free tier. A shareable mugshot is a genre post, not a missing product. LangChain: cost is not the #1 barrier. |
| WTP | 2 | ccusage $0. SuperPenguin $0 to $2k. Lineman $14.99 for real team FinOps. ShieldMCP $49 PDF, 5 upvotes. Loopcard Pro is explicitly not billed. Unwatermarked PNG is a paywall in search of a ritual. |
| Distribution | 1 | ~65 unique IPs / week, old social API. No Cursor/Claude graph. npx is the store; this is a website. New domain ≠ channel. Viberank already owns the public flex. |
| Competition | 2 | Prettier ccusage is OSS (claude-usage-graph, ClaudeCodeUsage share card, cc-grass, cctally SVG). Companies in spend are Lineman + SuperPenguin. Vendor dashboards improving. “We win on beauty” is not a 90-day moat. |
| Legal | 8 | Browser CSV, no keys, no scrape, no wallet, no Annex III, 18+/US hygiene. Residual: don’t claim the card is a bill or an audit; don’t use other people’s private invoices. Counsel still reviews Terms. This is not the kill. |
| Ops | 8 | 1-VPS, bind localhost, aggregates only, already deployed. Parser maintenance is product, not infra. This is not the kill. |
| Founder-hours | 3 | 30-day social calendar + PH gate + format rot vs a 404 academy on TMC. Solo support is light; GTM is the furnace. Finance: >10 h/week under $5k MRR means the SKU is wrong. |
| Brand | 2 | Loopcard name is fine. CryptoBook.space + Virtus blockchain + overnight-bill content is a conversion fine and a trust fine. .com is still the wrong A record. |
| 12-month cash | 1 | Billed MRR path is off. Even on, one-shot + free substitutes + dead domain cannot clear ~$5k. Honest year-1 cash from Loopcard: $0. Floor “awareness” is not cash. |
Read: legal and ops are green because this is a poster. Every dimension that has to be true for a business is red. That is the Slip signature.
Alternatives (ranked, least-bad first)
The original brief wanted a high-demand $19–99 PLG SaaS on this VPS. None of the rows below is that company. Rank is expected value of the next founder month, not romance.
| Option | What it is | 12-month cash | Founder month | Verdict vs Loopcard |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1. Fix academy.tokensmarketcap.com |
It is 404 on a property people already type (docs/01, docs/10 C, challenges/slip-demand.md). Boring. Only inbound this VPS actually has. |
Unknown until a separate TMC demand study. Not “genius agentic SaaS.” | Hours on a real 404 | Beats Loopcard. Distribution exists. Loopcard’s does not. |
| 2. Agency content (Virtus) | virtusblockchainlabs.com already sells AI/Web3/SaaS work. | Agency invoices, not MRR | Work you already know how to bill | Beats Loopcard. Cash this quarter vs a PNG. |
| 3. Do nothing | Leave https://cryptobook.space on the live Loopcard toy. No calendar, no PH, no domain buy, no Stripe. Documents remain the deliverable (docs/10 A). |
$0 | 0 | Beats booming Loopcard. Incremental cost of NO-GO is founder time not wasted (docs/01 §7). |
| 4. Holding page | Virtus chrome, social retired, link TMC + Virtus (docs/06 B, docs/05). |
$0 | A day | Beats a fake launch. Use only if the leftover social must come down. Do not waitlist. |
| 5. Loopcard as SaaS | $19/$49, Stripe, PH, loopcard.ai, 30-day calendar |
$0 base; stretch is hopium | A quarter of GTM into the wrong graph | Last. Same kill as Slip’s card, prettier. |
Do not “merge” 5 into 1 by putting Loopcard on TMC. Different buyer, different brand (TMC greens are forbidden on Virtus UI — docs/07), and TMC users are not installing Claude Code overnight.
Why not SHIP / PAUSE / SHIP-AS-STUNT
SHIP would mean treat Loopcard as the 2026 product: buy the domain, run the calendar, enable Pro when vanity metrics twitch. That repeats Slip: survival architecture + unproven WTP + a domain that is not a channel. The pricing page is already more honest than a SHIP. Refuse.
PAUSE was correct before the demand study (decision/PM-NOTE.md). The study exists. Loopcard is live. Pause is how you keep a zombie on nginx while pretending you haven’t decided. Decide.
SHIP-AS-STUNT is the mush this chair was tempted to write, because the spec already says “virality first, Pro later, awareness is the floor.” It is still wrong:
- A stunt needs a channel. 65 crypto-social IPs and a blockchain agency graph are not r/ClaudeAI. Viberank already is the stunt, with 1.2k people on the board.
- A stunt needs a novel object.
claude-usage-graph’s playground is the same 60-second PNG. ClaudeCodeUsage already ships the share card. - A stunt that cannot claim to stop the loop (
claims-we-will-not-make.md) is a screenshot of a number ccusage already prints. - Fourteen days of posting from this brand is not a cheap test. It is how you spend the month the academy stays 404, and how you look like a fake AI startup (
docs/05). - “Done in 14 days” would have been: ≥10 stranger cards from their exports (not the $6k demo), zero Stripe, no domain purchase unless those 10 exist, then stop. Predicting that number from this graph: 0. Running the test anyway is theater.
If someone later runs a stunt against this file, those gates are the only ones that are not a SaaS costume. This chair still does not authorize it.
What KILL means operationally
KILL is not “SSH in and delete the toy tonight.” Incremental hosting is free. KILL is stop treating Loopcard as the product.
- Do not buy
loopcard.ai/.app/getloopcard.comfor this SKU. - Do not run the 30-day calendar, Product Hunt, hunter-for-hire, or ads. $0 media stays $0 (
docs/05). - Do not wire Stripe. Do not “turn Pro on” because a demo was screenshotted.
- Do not write another compiler/receipt/card remix and call it demand (
decision/GO-NO-GO.md,decision/PM-NOTE.md). - Nginx: leave the live toy or swap to the holding page if social residue must die. Either is option A/B. Neither is a GO.
- Next founder month: option C — fix the TMC academy 404 — or bill agency work. Re-open an agentic SaaS only with the seven tests in
docs/10-strategic-options.md§D (named buyer who pays this week, named incumbent, price, 60s, 1-VPS, US-legal, distribution other than 65 leftover IPs). Loopcard fails 1, 2, 4 (as a paid habit), and 7.
Incomplete Slip under /root/cryptobook-next/app/ stays prototype. Loopcard under /root/cryptobook-next/loopcard/ becomes a dead-letter preview, not a roadmap.
Final
Loopcard is a legal, cheap, already-deployed poster of a bill the vendor and npx ccusage already show. Prettier ccusage is not a company; Lineman and SuperPenguin are, and they do not sell the poster. The poster’s cousins already export SVG/PNG. The public flex already has a leaderboard. This domain has 65 IPs of the wrong people. The $19 SKU is ShieldMCP’s PDF. The $6,000 hero is journalism, not a weekly job. Cash in month 12 is zero.
The pack already knew how to say this for Slip. Saying it again for a pink card is the whole job of this chair.
