How a why-note is written
A why-note is a few sentences under an alert. The sentences can come from a model. Every number in them is written by code, from facts stored when the alert fired. The model does not receive raw tables. It receives lines the code already formatted.
What goes into a note
The lines include the coin, the last price and its source, the change over the alert's window, and the other windows already stored. When at least 90% of the minutes in the window are stored, the lines add the high, the low, and the largest change across 5 minutes. They can add trading volume next to that coin's 20-day average, and the change in Bitcoin and Ethereum over the same window. Funding and open interest are named only when a licensed source is on file. News is listed as not available, so a note cannot invent a cause.
A price level has no window of its own. Its note looks at the last 1 hour.
Limits
A note is cut to 2 sentences and 45 words. Code checks the draft. Each money figure, percent, and plain number must match a number on the fact sheet, including the sign of a percent. A window label cannot stand in for a different number.
If the draft fails, it is written once more with the problems named. If it fails again, the alert shows this line instead: A note was not added to this alert. The price above is the recorded price.
When the monthly count is used and there is no credit left, the alert shows: The note limit for this month is used. The price above is the recorded price.
When notes are paused for the rest of the month, the alert shows: Notes are paused on this account for the rest of the month. Alerts still arrive with the price.
The label under a note the model wrote is: AI-written · numbers from market data
What a note does not do
A note describes what happened. It does not tell you what to do with a coin. It does not name a future price. Words that instruct a trade, or that name a cause the facts do not list, are rejected. The price and the receipt remain either way.
Notes on the same coin, window, and direction that fire within 5 minutes can share one note, and only when that note still matches this alert's own facts. An alert with different numbers gets its own note.
Monthly counts
- Free. 10 notes in a UTC month, then further notes use credits at 5 cents each.
- Trader. 1,000 notes in a UTC month, then notes pause for the rest of that month.
- Pro. 2,000 notes in a UTC month, then notes pause for the rest of that month.
- Community. 2,000 notes in a UTC month, then notes pause for the rest of that month.
Alerts still arrive with the price when a note is not added.
